New Chief Executive appointed at Learning South West

The Board of Learning South West has appointed Paula Jones as the new Chief Executive of the Taunton based charity which plays a key strategic role in the learning and skills, and youth work sectors in the region.Paula, who was the Deputy Chief Executive, was selected from a strong and diverse field of candidates.  She brings a wealth of experience of working with practitioners in the South West, as well as from playing influential national roles as a council member of the Institute for Lea..

Sounds Positive - Young people are doing it for themselves

Young people in the south west, fed up with their often negative image in the media, have been given a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to promote a more positive impression in future. The grant for the project, Sounds Positive, is worth £324,712 over four years.   The initiative comes directly from young people themselves and was agreed to be a priority for the region by the 60 members of the UKYP in the south west. Regional Learning & Skills Workers' Report of a Pilot Network Meeting in the SW - March 2009
