World Skills - We are one of the partners coordinating the Have a Go campaign

World Skills London 2011 which took place from 5th-8th October is the world’s largest skills competition and celebrates many talents - from car maintenance to hairdressing to landscape gardening.  Part of the World Skills initiative, the ‘Have a Go’ campaign will allow people to gain hands-on experience in a new activity at any time between now and February 2012 and hopefully be inspired to find out more about learning. Update on the Review of Qualifications for Learning Professionals

Details of the recent Review of Qualifications for Learning Professionals in England (conducted by LLUK October 2010 - February 2011) can now be found on the Excellence Gateway website.The site also contains the recently published PTLLS Awarding Organisation Guidance (June 2011).  This is just the guidance for the Awarding Organisations - which they will now use to develop their qualifications.The intention is that the revised PTLLS qualifications should be available from Autumn 2..

Learning South West welcomes QTLS recommendation in Wolf Report

NEW DIRECTIONS TO BISHOPS HULL HOUSE AS A RESULT OF PERMANENT ROAD CLOSURE

Due to the development of the land opposite Bishops Hull House for housing, access to Bishops Hull Road from the A38 is now permanently closed. Sounds Positive - Young people are doing it for themselves

Young people in the south west, fed up with their often negative image in the media, have been given a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to promote a more positive impression in future. The grant for the project, Sounds Positive, is worth £324,712 over four years.   The initiative comes directly from young people themselves and was agreed to be a priority for the region by the 60 members of the UKYP in the south west.
