About Learning South West

Learning South West has regional, national and international links

Learning South West is based near Taunton, Somerset and is well connected to a range of local, regional and national strategic and support bodies. We also have experience of working with overseas partners both in the learning and skills arena and in youth work.

For an overview of our recent activities see our 2010 Annual Review which gives details of what we have achieved in 2009/10, facts and figures and forthcoming events for 2011. We have also just published our Trustees Report and Financial Statements.

Learning South West is all about people. Our role is to be a catalyst for people and organisations to learn together and from each other.  Our Vision is that learning is a transformative experience that is vital in enabling people, organisations and our region to fulfil their potential and create a better, more sustainable future for us all.

Learning South West is all about people

Our history of collaborative working has given us a reputation as an honest, neutral broker of cross sector partnerships and projects. Through our work and networks, Learning South West is in contact with many sector provider organisations and thousands of practitioners.

Examples of cross sector partnership projects in learning and skills include the South West Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (
SWCETT) and the Voluntary Youth Organisations Network South West (VYON-SW) in youth work.

Listening and responding to the needs of members informs the development of our strategy. We strive to embrace inclusive practice in all our charitable activities. Our partnership work is enriched by a cross sector approach and a shared value base. We believe that it is the sector itself that is best placed to discover and develop brilliant practice in youth work and teaching and learning.

Through improving youth, learner and employer participation and providing flexible and responsive accreditation services through our partner
ABC Awards, we can develop training, qualifications and progression routes which are led by the needs of learners and employers
