About Learning South West
Learning South West is all about people
Learning South West is all about people.
Our role is to be a catalyst for people and organisations to learn together and from each other. Our Vision is that learning is a transformative experience that is vital in enabling people, organisations and our region to fulfil their potential and create a better, more sustainable future for us all.
Learning South West is an independent charity, which is a cross-sector membership organisation with membership such as local authorities, further education colleges, private training providers and voluntary sector organisations. Our strong values and 60 year history of collaborative working with a wide range of organisations has given us a reputation as an honest, neutral broker of regional partnerships and projects.
Learning South West has 3 key goals:
1. Develop networks and communities of practice, e.g. youth and children's services
2. Improve workforce development, e.g. via professional development
3. Improve youth, employer and learner participation
Through our work and networks, Learning South West is in contact with thousands of practitioners in the South West. We aim to ensure the voice of practitioners is heard by policy-makers. We seek to build on the learning that comes through the experience of practitioners to develop and secure funding for innovative partnership projects, which translate policy into effective practice.
Through improving youth, learner and employer participation and providing flexible and responsive accreditation services through our partner ABC Awards, we can develop training, qualifications and progression routes which are led by the needs of learners and employers.
Our Annual Reports give a more detailed overview of our work and progress towards our goals. There are two versions - one covering Learning and Skills Development and the other the work of the Regional Youth Work Unit. Both are presented in a Calendar format.
