Since 2003, the Regional Youth Work Unit has supported a network of workers involved in accrediting and recording young people’s achievements. Regional work resulting from this network has included:

•Training events for statutory and voluntary sector youth workers on accrediting and recording young people’s achievements (click here  to see an example of the Training Offer) and a suggested programme
• Development of a template accreditation strategy for local areas (click here to see - ‘Why accredit young people’s achievements?)’
• Significant contribution towards quality standards for local awards, developed by the NYA (click here to see ‘Credit Where It’s Due)
• Developing a system of verification of local awards against these quality standards
• Development of a recorded outcomes toolkit and a training package to support the toolkit
• Setting up a regional operating agency for the Youth Achievement Awards, improving quality and consistency across the region
• Ad-hoc meetings to advise and support the development of local accreditation work.

We are currently reviewing the role of the Accreditation Network and would like to refresh its membership, in particular to ensure that youth organisations in each local authority area are represented.  If you think your organisation would benefit from involvement in the Accreditation Network, please complete the Accreditation Survey and email it to jane_shipton@learning-southwest.org.uk by Monday 24 October.
