A 24 hour race is on to record as many wildlife species as possible at Bishops Hull House, Bishops Hull Road, Taunton. The organisers are hoping to record over 250 species in the large garden of this beautiful Georgian house in Bishops Hull.
From 12.00 noon on Friday 01 July through to 12.00 noon on Saturday 02 July as many people as possible, including children, are being asked to join in, record their observations, and upload their finds onto the award winning iSpot website (www.ispot.org.uk).
The BioBlitz race, at Learning South West’s Bishops Hull House headquarters, is part of a national programme, supported by natural historians and a wildlife team, to uncover the wonders of nature.

Paula Jones, Chief Executive at Learning South West says: “This will be a great family event and a wonderful opportunity for local people to get involved in a major project designed to increase the national knowledge base and help our individual learning.
“In addition to recording your finds, you can listen to bats, track small mammals and moths, learn to charm worms, identify a whole range of mini-beasts, and get creative with environmental artwork or gaze at the night’s stars in our beautiful garden but don’t forget to bring your camera!”
Members of staff at Learning South West are also asking for volunteers to help in the following areas:
- Public stewards
- Digital photographers
- Data up-loaders
- Naturalists or students of natural history
- General help
