Keynote Speaker:

Our keynote speaker is Dr Jean Kelly, Director of Professional Development at the Institute for Learning (IfL), who will lead the day with a session entitled "Making a difference for teachers and trainers:  future directions".

Jean's role at IfL is to lead on support for members in their professional development and progress towards the professional status of QTLS or ATLS.


Purpose of the Day:

The three year central funding for the SWitch Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (CETT) ends at the end of this year, although CETT activities will continue.  This event is a celebration of the success of the projects that have been funded through the CETTs and the support that they have provided for teacher educators.


Aims & Objectives:

To celebrate the achievements of SWitch over the last three years and to look forward to future CETT activity that can support teachers and trainers, by having the opportunity to

•   hear about current policy development from IfL
•   hear about the work of Year 3 Projects
•   receive updates from Years 1 & 2 Projects
•   share practice and progress with colleagues
•   participate in activities offered in dissemination workshops

Project Led Workshop Sessions:

Delegates will have an opportunity to attend a number of project led workshops during the day on the following themes:

•   “Mirror, mirror on the wall …” Supporting Reflective Practice through Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

•   The Evaluation Toolkit

•   Mentoring in Understanding & Managing Challenging Behaviour

•   Models of Good Practice in Recruitment, Induction, Initial Assessment & On-going Support for ITE Trainees

•   Can You Really Cope with Equality & Diversity?

•   Making the Most of Mentoring

•   Diversifying the Workforce

Colleagues from Peninsula CETT will also be leading workshops on:

•   The ICE Project - Teaching for Innovation, Creativity & Enterprise

•   Embedding Sustainability in Teacher Education

•   Breadth of Practice in Initial Teacher Education

Teacher educators, managers and professionals in organisations that deliver teacher education programmes and work in support agencies across the learning and skills sector.
