NEW INNOVATION COMPETITON FOR 16-25 YEAR OLDS FROM THE CARNEGIE UK TRUST The increasing decline of town centres in Britain is an issue that is receiving higher levels of media interest than ever before. The shift from high street to online sales and a tough economy has put huge pressure on town centres. Last year Carnegie UK published Enterprising Minds, a ground breaking report exploring how students view practical enterprise such as starting a business. As a result the Trust launched TestTown, an innovation competition for 16-25 year olds. TestTown is a major national development engaging enterprising younger people with the challenge of finding innovative new purpose for our high streets and town centres. Teams of young people from schools, colleges, universities and clubs across the UK will be asked to come up with ground-breaking ideas for our town centres.
Ten ideas will be chosen to be tested, with teams coming together to try out their enterprises in Dunfermline, our host town this June. We will arrange all travel and accommodation for the teams to come to Dunfermline. We want what works in TestTown to work in any town so we believe this a project that could have an impact across the UK. The best idea, brought to life with enthusiasm and in a way that engages real people, will leave the TestTown with a £10,000 prize.
We are on twitter @TestTown2013 and
facebook and you can visit the website. To contact, please email
