EQUALITY SOUTH WEST DRAFT BUSINESS PLAN 2012 The Business Plan proposes that ESW prioritises their support in the areas of health, housing and education. Throughout their consultation on this plan, they are seeking views as to how they might best do this. Although they must prioritise our support, they will continue to share information and best practice relevant to the whole equality and human rights agenda and are here to support their local partners in whatever way they can.  ESW look forward to your comments and suggestions over the coming weeks and to making their aims a reality in 2012. AN INSTITUTE FOR YOUTH WORK? HAVE YOUR SAY
For many years the notion of a professional institute for youth work has been discussed across the sector. Current political and financial circumstances provide a real focus for this debate to be had once again.
• Would an independent body governed and directed by its membership add value to existing structures for youth work?
• Could it help secure the profession and its methodology, provide a strong voice to influence policy relating to young people and youth work and a platform to share and communicate?
• Could it celebrate and unite the diversity of the membership and bring cohesion to current activity to raise the profile of the value and purpose of youth work for the ultimate benefit of young people?
Through the work of the Catalyst partnership NYA is facilitating a first phase consultation to establish the level of support for an IYW.
Have your say by downloading the consultation materials from the NYA website or submit your views through the online survey. For further information and to complete the on-line survey, please click here. (Posted 08/11/11)

RED TAPE CHALLENGE SPOTLIGHT CONSULTATION
- The Equality Act 2010 contains measures intended to prevent discrimination and ensure equal opportunities in the workplace and in wider society. The Government is determined to take a hard look at anything which imposes bureaucratic burdens. Fairness is important, and it is not the Government’s intention to abolish the Equality Act, but it cannot be exempt from a comprehensive look to check that we are not imposing burdens that are out of proportion to the good they seek to do.  We have already agreed that there are some provisions in the Equality Act that will not be commenced. This red tape challenge spotlight gives you the opportunity to look at all provisions in the Equality Act and tell them if they are too bureaucratic and burdensome for the benefit they bring, whether they could be simplified or better implemented, or if you think they should be kept exactly as they are.  Go to the Red Tape challenge website to join in the debate (Posted 13/6/11)
