Youth Work Curriculum
We provide a regional focus to support particular aspects of youth work: in particular we have developed work on recorded and accredited outcomes for young people. As part of this initiative we are a regional operating agency for Youth Achievement Awards and work closely with the Duke of Edinburgh Award in the region.
We promote International youth work opportunities, working closely with the British Council to promote international exchanges and training opportunities for youth workers and young people. We have recently worked with a group of young people from UK Youth Parliament to produce a Hitch Hikers Guide to Europe for young people, as a one stop guide to funding opportunities for collaborating with youth groups in Europe and beyond. WE co-ordinate the South West International Youth Work Partnership which acts as an information network for international youth work. PROJECTS
We work with a number of local, regional and national organisations to develop projects that pilot new ways of working with young people
We have recently worked with local youth workers and library staff, The Reading Agency and the National Youth Agency, to pilot ‘Out of the Box’ projects engaging youth workers and young people in reading and creating. The evaluation report of these projects will be available soon.
Still with libraries, we are active members of ‘Participate South West’ and have been providing training for library staff to help them develop their offer to young people.
We are working closely with the Anti-Bullying Alliance to ensure that young people across the region get opportunities to work out strategies for challenging bullying in their organisations and areas.
We welcome opportunities to use our extensive networks within the region to further develop opportunities for young people’s personal and social development through innovative and creative approaches.
