Youth Work Training and Qualifications
Youth Work Training and Qualifications
The Regional Youth Work Unit is a hub for information on training and qualifications for youth workers. Our Regional Youth Work Trainers Network is a useful forum for those involved in commissioning and delivering training for the youth sector.
If you are interested in careers in youth work, and want to know how to get qualified, then follow this link to the National Youth Agency’s Getting Qualified guidance. You can also download our List of Youth Work Qualifications Opportunities in the South West to find your nearest training provider. For advice and guidance about youth work training and qualifications, contact Gill Millar.
The Centre for Informal Learning at Learning South West plans to deliver youth work qualifications at Level 2 and 3 along with other qualifications relevant to those working with young people. For more information about the CfIL offer contact John Gibson.
We worked with training providers, employers and awarding bodies to produce Good Practice Guidance for Developing Youth Support Worker Qualifications –watch out for the updated version due in November 2011. You can access a number of other useful documents on workforce development in our Document Library under ‘Workforce Development’.
The Regional Youth Work Unit organises short courses, workshops and conferences for youth workers in the region. If you would like us to provide training tailored to your organisation, please contact Jane Shipton in the first instance.
