South West Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (SWCETT)

The South West CETT is a partnership co-ordinated
by Learning South West
SWitch CETT (a partnership of over 55 regional members) has been appointed by the Learning & Skills Improvement Service (formerly QIA) as one of two Centres for Excellence in Teacher Training (CETTs) in the South West.
The SWitch Vision
SWitch’s vision is to develop an inclusive partnership for excellence which involves the diverse range of organisations involved in Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for teachers in the learning and skills sector in the South West.
The SWitch membership is made up of a broad and growing partnership of constituent organisations that collectively represent the breadth and diversity of the learning and skills sector. A core element of the SWitch vision is the commitment of all members to collaboration and diversity. This is a primary strength of our CETT and a key facet in how we work to foster quality improvement and excellence.
In order to advance innovation and collaboration, SWitch commissions project work which meets its agreed priorities, empowering groups of constituent organisations to develop projects and disseminate learning.
As well as raising the quality of initial teacher training, SWitch is also keen to develop a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) function as part of its operation. We therefore bring providers of CPD within the SWitch framework together to use this activity as a further way to develop quality improvement and disseminate learning being generated.
