Generic text about Adult Learners' Week

Adult Learners' Week is a wonderful celebration of the energy and inspiration that adults bring to their learning.

It is the UK’s largest learning campaign to encourage adults to give learning a go, led by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) and co-ordinated regionally by Learning South West.

[insert local events, info, contacts etc]

Adult Learners' Week seeks to use the achievements of learners to inspire others to have to go - whether it be learning a new skill, learning for fun, or catching up on learning missed at school.

The national Adult Learners' Week awards, taking place on May 15, are the highlight of Adult Learners' Week.

The overall purposes of the campaign are to raise demand for learning and skills and to support the Skills Strategy more widely - particularly given the UK's commitment to the Lisbon Goals to make the EU the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy in the world and a socially inclusive community.

The Skills Strategy for the South West is a major arm for delivering the region's Economic Strategy.
